On 22 November, SPiN was nominated among the winners of the "Smart Integration Satellite Capability" challenge, promoted by Lazio Innova, the in-house innovation company of Regione Lazio (Italy), and Thales Alenia Space.

This challenge focused on uncovering innovative solutions for Smart Factories, aiming to streamline Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) processes for small satellite components.

The solution presented by SPiN secured third place and is based on an advanced version of the MA61C plug-and-play adapter for Small Satellites.

SPiN's proposal features a modular integration system that allows a flexible and reconfigurable architecture with interchangeable COTS subsystems and a geolocation network to identify components' nominal positions and adapt to a digital smart factory

A modular approach to a digital factory offers powerful benefits, including scalable production, enhanced reliability and efficiency through optimised manufacturing techniques, and dramatic reduction of production time and costs.

We sincerely thank Thales Alenia Space Italia and Lazio Innova for this opportunity and extend our congratulations to Astradyne for their first-place achievement and to all participants for their inspiring contributions!
